*Demonstration Rally in London Demands Release of Khaleda Zia and BNP Leaders*
*London, 7th May 2024* – A demonstration rally organized by the Bangladesh nationalist youth party, UK Branch, took place today at Maidah Grill in Whitechapel, London. The rally demanded the unconditional and permanent release of Begum Khaleda Zia, affectionately known as the “Mother of Democracy,” along with advocating for her access to good medical treatment abroad.
Protesters also called for the withdrawal of what they claim are false cases against all BNP leaders and activists, including Acting Chairman Tareque Rahman. Additionally, they demanded the unconditional release of all leaders and activists, notably Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, the Struggle President of the Bangladesh nationalist youth party Central Executive Committee.
The event saw the participation of several notable figures from the Bangladeshi political diaspora. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisory member and United Kingdom BNP President M A Malek, along with United Kingdom youth party President Rahim Uddin and General Secretary Afzal Hossain, addressed the crowd. Other speakers included London metropolitan youth party General Secretary Niamul Haque Shamim Maxim, Joint convener of Nabiganj Upazila student party, leaders of the London Metropolitan Youth party Dipu Ahmed.
The speakers emphasized the importance of unity among the Bangladeshi community abroad and reiterated their commitment to advocating for the rights and freedoms of BNP leaders and activists. They called upon the international community to take notice of the political situation in Bangladesh and to support their cause.
The rally concluded with a strong message of solidarity and a renewed commitment to continue their struggle until their demands are met.
